ABOUT REBEL STEPZ

We believe that the arts should be accessible for everyone.

Rebel Stepz Arts originated in 2010 when Director Sheena Chundee initiated the development of educational and artistic programs. These initiatives have since been integrated into educational institutions, community groups, and workplaces.

The programs were strategically crafted to complement school curriculums, foster community cohesion, offer distinctive educational encounters, and advocate for the arts as a means of nurturing wellness and fostering ingenuity. Rebel Stepz Arts aimed, and still aims, to provide everyone with the opportunity to engage with various art forms while connecting with and learning from industry experts who are enthusiastic about sharing their expertise.

Since its inception, Rebel Stepz Arts has grown and now collaborates with art galleries, local authorities, schools, and corporate entities. They offer a diverse range of services including classes, performances, event coordination, production support, team-building initiatives, and theater craft.

Rebel Stepz Arts has established a supportive platform for creative practitioners seeking to express their passion for the arts, exhibit their skills, refine their abilities, and contribute to a movement that underscores the pivotal role of the arts.

Whether it’s an art showcase, a comedy performance, a cultural festival, a team-building activity, or a dance workshop, Rebel Stepz Arts remains committed to sharing their enthusiasm for theater, cinema, music, dance, design, and the creative industry in all its facets.

MEET THE TEAM

Sheena Chundee

Sheena Chundee

Director

Sheena commenced her dance journey at the tender age of 5, eventually earning a scholarship to The Royal Ballet and transitioning to full-time training by age 11. Alongside her rigorous training, she performed with The Royal Ballet Company and various European dance troupes, also delving into choreography and pioneering roles in new productions.

In the early 2000s, Sheena embarked on curating and facilitating creative workshops for community organizations, striving to democratize the arts and extend its reach to underprivileged communities. This endeavor involved collaboration with company directors, educators, and health professionals to craft inclusive and educational arts programs.

Augmenting her dance background, Sheena pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Creative Writing, nurturing her passion for literature, writing, and poetry. Concurrently, she assumed the role of Assistant Manager at a West End Theatre, overseeing daily operations and Front of House management. Her involvement in community radio sparked an interest in sound engineering, leading her to earn a diploma and subsequently work in the live music industry.

Upon relocating to Melbourne in 2009, Sheena leveraged her extensive experience and network in the arts to establish Rebel Stepz. This multicultural arts organization comprises diverse talents spanning theater technicians, set and costume designers, dancers, choreographers, musicians, writers, and artists. Together with Rebel Stepz, Sheena curates events, workshops, programs, and production packages, catering to various projects across Australia and Europe.

Sheena persists in her multifaceted roles as a choreographer, facilitator, event manager, and mentor. Continuously evolving, she is presently immersed in the study of sports psychology, aiming to apply her insights to support artists and performers in their endeavors.
