CHOREOGRAPHY
Sheena Chundee | Choreography
Sheena Chundee is a Melbourne-based choreographer, dancer, and interdisciplinary artist whose work explores identity, embodiment, and the tension between tradition and transformation. Classically trained at The Royal Ballet School, Sheena has performed internationally with The Royal Ballet, English National Ballet, Northern Ballet Theatre, and in contemporary works with acclaimed artist Mavin Khoo—touring extensively throughout Europe.
After a period of choreographing within school programs and growing her arts company Rebel Stepz Arts, Sheena returned to the choreographic stage in 2024 with TOUCH—a co-created production that toured theatres across Victoria and was praised for its emotional impact and cultural depth.
In 2025, Sheena will present an excerpt of her new solo work Fractured Echoes at Out of Bounds, a choreographic initiative by Lucy Guerin Inc and Dancehouse. Exploring digital identity and fractured selfhood, the work merges classical precision with contemporary experimentation—hallmarks of Sheena’s choreographic voice.
Work-in-Progress | Fractured Echoes
Fractured Echoes is currently in development as a full-length interdisciplinary work, with a premiere planned for 2026. A 10–15 minute excerpt will be presented as part of Out of Bounds in May 2025—an initiative co-presented by Dancehouse, Lucy Guerin Inc, and Temperance Hall, showcasing raw and developing choreographic ideas, in Melbourne, Australia.
Combining movement, voice, and projection, Fractured Echoes examines the fragmentation of identity in the digital age and the psychological toll of constant self-curation. The piece reflects Sheena’s interest in the tensions between cultural expectation, digital performance, and the unfiltered self—offering an emotionally charged and resonant experience for audiences.
Sheena will present Fractured Echoes on Sunday 4th May as part of Out of Bounds.
Free to attend – registration essential.
TOUCH | Past Work
TOUCH enjoyed a sold-out run at Dancehouse Melbourne during the 2023 Melbourne Fringe Festival, earning recognition as one of the must-see performances of the event.
Championing diversity, community, and multiculturalism, TOUCH creates a platform for individuals to unite, honor their differences, and embark on a collective journey that transcends boundaries. Through the language of dance, it cultivates empathy and solidarity in our global landscape.
At its core, TOUCH delves into the personal narratives of two dancers, exploring themes of prejudice, racism, and isolation. Seamlessly blending Ballet and Bharathanatyam, the work celebrates the beauty that emerges when cultures meet and connect. By challenging conventional paradigms, the choreographers open up conversations around inclusivity, acceptance, and the richness of intersecting artistic traditions.
